Clippers' Gordon out again with injured wrist

The guard was fouled hard by Timofey Mozgov on an attempted driving layup with 5:08 left before halftime and the Clippers leading 43-29.

Gordon wasn't able to make his free throws, which automatically made him ineligible for the rest of the game, and he was taken for X-rays.

It was Gordon's second game back in the lineup after missing the previous 18 with a sprained right wrist that had a small fracture in it. On Wednesday, he scored 24 points in a 106-103 victory that snapped Los Angeles' five-game losing streak.

After all, a short sale has much less of an impact on your credit than a foreclosure. Despite all this, banks still make short sales tough.

Later on the property sells for even less money than the short sale offer you had. I have said in earlier posts that, in my opinion, you could sue the lender for the damage caused to your credit by the foreclosure.

After all, the only reason the short sale wasn't successful was because they dragged their feet. Here is the technique you can use to strong arm the lender to accept the short sale.

Use your rights as a homeowner to get more information about the BPO. An inaccurate BPO is the number one reason short sales fail.

Getting your hands on a copy of the BPO will help your agent contest an inaccurate BPO. And it would be a big help in any future lawsuit. Here is the step by step strategy:

1. Request a complete itemized payoff from the foreclosing lawyer. In addition, request a copy from the lender themselves. You do this by faxing them a request. Usually you will get an answer in 7-10 business days.

2. Review the payoff to see where the BPO is itemized. If a BPO has ever been ordered, it will most likely by itemized on there. If not, it may be included in some other payoff cost. Get confirmation of that in writing from the lender.

3. Since the BPO is added onto the amount owed by the homeowner, they have a right to a copy under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Fax the lender's legal department a request for a copy of the BPO.

Send a copy of the payoff and circle the spot where you think the BPO payment is. Request a copy for the borrower under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. In addition, also mail the lender's legal department the same request.

If the lender does not comply, then you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov, The Office of Thrift Supervision at www.ots.treas.gov, the FDIC at www.FDIC.gov, and the Comptroller of the Currency at www.helpwithmybank.gov.

Indicate on your correspondence with the lender that if they do not comply, then you will be filing complaints with those agencies. Thinking about a short sale?

'For Colored Girls' a big winner at Image Awards

Based on the award-winning play "for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf," the film earned honors for director Tyler Perry and supporting actress Kimberly Elise Friday night.

One of Perry's TV shows, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne," also won outstanding comedy series, while the star of Perry's other TV show, "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns," won best actor in a comedy series. Vanessa Williams won the TV comedy actress prize for "Desperate Housewives."

Halle Berry won best actress in a motion picture for "Frankie & Alice" — and was surprised to have Prince hand her the award — while the movie itself won for outstanding independent picture. Denzel Washington won the movie actor prize for "The Book of Eli."

On the music side, winners included Usher (outstanding male artist), Mary J. Blige (outstanding female artist), Alicia Keys (outstanding music video for "Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)") and Fantasia (outstanding song for "Bittersweet").

Among the book winners, Terry McMillan's "Getting to Happy" was named the outstanding fictional literary work, while Michelle Alexander won the top non-fiction prize for "The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness." Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice earned the award for outstanding literary work for youth or teens with "Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me."

Presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Image Awards honor diversity in the arts and outstanding achievements in film, television, music and literature.

Bibby starts settling in with Heat

Bibby settled in Thursday morning with his third team in little more than a week. He became a free agent Wednesday after clearing waivers and quickly signed with the Heat, who believe Bibby can be the last veteran piece of a championship puzzle.

"You can just tell that the guys here have a winning mentality," Bibby said. "You need that in this league. We're all on the same team. I'm not coming here trying to do anything, take anybody's minutes or anything else. I'm just here to help the team win. We're all a team and we're all in this together."

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra wasted little time putting Bibby to use, sending him in with 1:11 left in the opening quarter against the Orlando Magic on Thursday night. It's unclear how much time he may be in line for right away, especially considering Carlos Arroyo — who was waived to clear a spot for Bibby — has not been a regular part of Miami's rotation for several weeks.

Bibby ran through some offensive sets at the Heat facility after signing Wednesday night, went through a shootaround practice Thursday and studied film after that.

Miami has even experimented at times this season with having no true point guard on the court for long stretches, although the Heat have gotten away from that somewhat with Mario Chalmers playing a larger role of late.

"This gives us more depth," Spoelstra said. "I think ultimately some of our most consistent minutes happen when we have a point guard on the floor."

There were plenty of things pulling Bibby to Miami. His brother-in-law is Heat reserve guard Eddie House, but more than anything else, Bibby wanted to be with a team that he thinks will win a title.

In the end, Miami was his clear choice.

"I just thought it would be a good move for me," said Bibby, averaged 9.4 points and 3.6 assists as a starter with Atlanta this season, his 13th in the league. "I tried to see where I would fit in the best and help the most."

This Heat team came together last summer with a theme of sacrifice: Wade, James and Bosh signed deals worth a combined $51 million less than what they could have commanded. Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem were among other Miami players who signed for less money as well, and Bibby unexpectedly joined that group earlier this week.

When the Hawks traded Bibby to Washington last week, it was a move few people saw coming beforehand, Bibby included. He didn't want to stay with the Wizards and be little more than a mentor to rookie guard John Wall, so he asked that his contract be bought out.

It came with a price: $6,217,616.

That's what Bibby would have made next year, and that's what he forfeited as terms of the buyout.

"It's always tough to give up money," Bibby said. "At this time, this part of my career, I want to be happy. And I thought this would be the best place for me as far as winning. I've won and lost in my career, and I'm at a stage where I want to be happy."

Bibby brings something that the Heat will covet in April, May and, they hope, June: Playoff experience.

He's started 80 games in the playoffs, more than any other Heat player and 17th-most among active players across the league. And part of the sales pitch team President Pat Riley gave Bibby was how valued he would be on a championship run.

"He picked things up quickly," Wade said. "He's a veteran so he's going to fit in with the offense that we run. He's run some of it before. Just come in and play basketball, don't even worry about necessarily fitting in, just worry about the impact he can make on our team. If he does that, he'll be fine."

'Haunting Hour,' Stine pedigree attract kid stars

Teenage and preteen guest stars on the anthology series include Madeline Carroll ("Swing Vote" with Kevin Costner); Jake Cherry (Ben Stiller's "Night at the Museum") and Greg Sulkin ("Wizards of Waverly Place").

The show — its full name is "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: The Series" — is inspired by the author whose works reliably scare and delight young readers.

Saturday's episode (8:30 p.m. ET) features Nolan Gould, the tousle-haired kid from ABC's "Modern Family." As a Stine fan, Gould said, he jumped at the opportunity. Speaking like a seasoned pro, the 12-year-old actor said he also loved the script and change of change of pace it represented from his "Modern Family" character, Luke.

Gould plays Jack on "The Haunting Hour," a boy who tries to prove he's responsible enough to care for a pet without killing it. He's encounters an interesting contender: a zombie with the advantage of already being a goner.

Young actors see the series as an opportunity to stretch beyond familiar roles, said executive producer Billy Brown. He cited Debby Ryan, of the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life on Deck," as an example.

"She's usually cast as the all-American cheerleader type, and she gets to play a really bad and mean girl in one of the best satiric episodes," Brown said.

Young viewers find something different as well in "Haunting Hour," Brown said.

"We just never talk down to our audience. We have a belief that the audience is far smarter than they're often given credit for, he said.

Strict Hub guidelines banning profanity, sex and gore are observed, but creative storytelling ensures a fun, scary time for viewers, said fellow executive producer Dan Angel.

"It's like a good rollercoaster ride ... but we play within the rules," Angel said.

The show is targeted at 8- to 13-year-olds with the hope, the producers said, that parents join in.

"Families will see something they're not going to find anywhere else on the dial," Brown said.

Roddick vs Massu to open US-Chile Davis Cup match

The Americans feature No. 8 Andy Roddick, No. 32 John Isner and the top-ranked doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan. Jim Courier, a four-time Grand Slam champion, will make his debut as captain.

None of the Chileans playing at Estadio Nacional Court Central this weekend are ranked in the top 150. Fernando Gonzalez, Chile's most accomplished player and a former top-10 star, is sidelined with a hip injury.

Roddick will face 241st-ranked Nicolas Massu in the opening match on Friday. The draw, held Thursday, also featured Isner against 165th-ranked Paul Capdeville in second singles.

Roddick returns after taking a year off Davis Cup competition.

"I did miss it," Roddick said. "I missed these guys, the competition and the spirit of it all. It's a big reason why I came back and the opportunity to play for Jim was a big factor."

The doubles on Saturday will pit the Bryan brothers against Jorge Aguilar and Massu. Reverse singles on Sunday will feature Roddick facing Capdeville followed by Massu and Isner.

The Americans hold a 4-0 record against Chile in Davis Cup.

Courier played on the 1992 and 1995 U.S. Davis Cup winning teams. He believes his team can deal with the clay and being away from home.

"Going in and playing an away tie is always a challenge," Courier said. "The one thing about the Davis Cup is that the home team has the advantage of setting the conditions as they like. And the altitude here helps us as we have four great servers on this team.

"We're not expecting it to be easy, but as far as the conditions go we're comfortable."

Longtime Chile captain Hans Gildemeister says the Americans have the advantage, but was hopeful that the home crowd and clay court help his team.

"I think the pressure is on America, and I hope tomorrow they are going to feel the pressure on the court," Gildemeister said. "I hope that tomorrow will be very competitive. And we all know the pressure of playing Davis Cup is very different than playing on the ATP Tour.

"The Americans need to beat us. They have the better rankings, they have a great team, and we are the underdog. I like that."

Malta refusing to return Libyan fighter jets

The Maltese government refused to let a plane land in Malta last Wednesday because the passengers included two Libyan pilots who had been sent to fly the Mirage jets back to Libya, said Martin Bugelli, head of information for the prime minister's office.

He said the Maltese government was now abiding by a U.N. arms embargo imposed on Moammar Gadhafi and his family on Sunday.

The two Mirages landed at Malta's airport on Feb. 21 and their pilots asked for political asylum amid Gadhafi's bloody crackdown on anti-government protesters.

Initially, the Libyan government asked for the jets back, and on Wednesday sent a plane carrying two pilots to fly them home, Bugelli said.

The Maltese government had previously acknowledged that it had refused to let that plane land, amid reports that Gadhafi's daughter was on board. On Tuesday, Bugelli said the reason was because the passengers included the two pilots.
